I like to be the cat

I like to be the cat.
No, not a dog,
As obedient as can be.
Would stand sit and jog
The masters pet
So unlike me
He is a good natured soul.
I on the other hand,
Sometimes mew and sometimes growl.

As monotonous as can be.
Stand sit and walk together
You know like the birds of a feather..
So unlike me
Always walking in a line.
I am somewhat different,
Independence is what I pine.

No, not a monkey,
As mischievous as can be.
Jumping around and screaming,
Itching and making faces,
Mostly fighting and sometimes teaming.
So unlike me
I like the grace and the poise,
Like the members of the royalty.

Coz when I am afraid and alone,
And cold to the very bone,
Mother appears from nowhere.
All my follies and shortcomings,
My tantrums and mood swings,
That She does not care.
Goodness is all She sees
Even with dirt everywhere.

I like to be the cat.

She holds with her sharp jaws
As tender as can be,
And carries me to the place
Where I really need to be.
Like a kitten I close my eyes,
Relaxed and carefree,
Then all I do is enjoy
My Mother’s divine company.
