Journalists Keeping Their Integrity With Social Media?

Journalists above all, have been held to a higher standard then most users on social media. Whether they act accordingly is a totally different story. The world of news has changed so much since social media became a platform for all professionals.

According to the SPJ Code of Ethics, it is the responsibility of the journalist to “support the open and civil exchange of views” from readers and those involved in stories. Social media, especially from the political and sports aspect, will provoke journalists to not stay true to the integrity of this statement from the code of ethics.

Many times they will find themselves in shouting matches, or going on long thread-like rants to give their opinion, even when it is completely irrelevant.
