What is a Venture Studio?

The venture studio model has developed a new form of entrepreneurship — one that enables founders, aspiring entrepreneurs and visionaries to create companies while taking on very little or no risk of their own.

You may hear it by various names: venture factory, startup foundry, startup studio, tech studio or venture studio. However, all these terms share the same definition:

Venture studios put together the product team, develop the idea, and see the product through from inception to a successful company. This is done with multiple projects at the same time. However, venture studios may vary in the products they build and their target markets, so it is important to understand the goals of each individual studio.

Privilege Fund is an example of a venture studio that builds companies through ideas crowdsourced from industry professionals. We identify a problem through crowdsourcing campaigns, build a team and an MVP product, and register a new company. In exchange for presenting the idea, equity in the new startup is given to the founding partner.
