Why Community Is Essential To A Good Life

It changes you on a genetic level

Motivation is the driving force to all the actions ever taken.

When we consider where our motivation comes from, though, it is rather clear; the reason all people do what they do is due to the fact that they assume these actions will make them happy.

In life, we do things with the purpose of benefiting our mental health whether it is a conscious decision or not.

The order in which we value these things can be displayed in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, which creates a model of the five levels of physiological needs.

Every person must cover the bottom levels and progressively build-up to the next. Though, we find that to scale this model would require the need for interaction with a group of people.

A group of people that all share something in common (location, interest, occupation, etc.) are what composes a community.

Having a community allows us to develop connections in the form of friendships, romantic relationships, parenthood, and colleagueship.

Even minor connections such as an employer, barber, or teacher help to benefit the mental state of a person; though admittedly, benefits from social interaction are enhanced through quality more than though quantity.

These links we form often allow us to do work for others; starting a business, raising a household, or brightening a friends day are different ways that we help to put our energy to good use and create a better community around us.

This work that we do is additionally often noticed and respected from others.

Community allows for a person to thrive in all forms of life and reach the most potential that they could for creating a positive impact.
