Interview with Writer Christine Graves

This week, I am excited to feature one of my favorite writers on this platform — Christine Graves.

Cendrine Marrouat: Hello Christine, thank you for being with us. How did you get started as a writer? Is there an event that triggered the muse in you?

Christine Graves: I’ve been a writer longer than I’ve known how to write. As a child, I had an overactive imagination. I was that kid that liked to check out the old buildings and imagine the things that dwelled within. Even if I was playing alone, I had hundreds of imaginary friends with me. Each had their own personality, their own backstory, and their own worlds. I somehow managed to take that with me throughout my life.

CM: You have dabbled in many genres. How do you approach each one? And which one is your favorite?

CG: I’ve written in just about every genre. I’ve spent years as a ghostwriter, copywriter, content provider, and whatever else could earn me a buck. I wrote about everything from Acai Berries to VoiP telephone systems.

Poetry has always been something I’ve pretty much done for myself, but fiction has always been my true love. Then I discovered flash fiction and it’s my all-time favorite.

CM: You write for several publications. Would you tell us a little about them?

CG: I’ve been writing on Medium for 4 years now. The first publication I wrote for was called Pickle Fork. It’s no longer open for submissions, but it’s still there for the world to see.

One of my favorite pubs is Publishous as they always made me feel at home. Currently, I write mainly for Promptly Written. I find it easier to write for only a couple pubs than several.

CM: I have noticed that you use pen names for a couple of those pubs / blogs. How did you choose those? Why do you think pen names are important?
