How A Moment on the Beach Led to a Motel Room

Her smile and the way she knelt on her towel was a fantasy come to life

I was compelled to visit the beaches around Los Angeles and Long Beach whenever I had the chance. My mid-20s was a time to work hard on building my writing career and finding times to explore socially.

Beaches gave me an arousal buzz and epitomized sensuality.

Long Beach was a new area for me and that made me curious. Instead of driving home after a meeting where I was hired to write public relations copy, I decided it was time for fun.

These were the days when X-rated magazines ruled the porn world and one I’d often buy was a review of adult films. I found an adult video store on my way to the beach, wandered inside the seedy establishment and picked up the latest issue showing four-color stills of the latest 80s flicks shot mostly in Porn Valley, the nickname for the San Fernando Valley.

I made my purchase, asked how to get to the nearest beach and drove off. I wound through a neighborhood of convenience stores, no-name motels, and apartments.

The parking lot was wide open on this weekday so finding a space was easy. No one was around so I slipped off my slacks, pulled up my swim trunks, changed my button-down shirt for a T-shirt and I was off across the pavement.

I clutched my towel and wrapped inside was the porn-flick mag.

The funny thing about beaches is that people are mostly silent. It’s an odd shared experience of lying on towels but normally not talking to anyone around you. I would never dare approach a woman unless she gave me some kind of clear sign.

And in this case, Tara was like a fantasy come to life. I trudged across the narrow sand just south of Long Beach. There she was. No one else around. She rose up on her knees, straightened her towel and arched her back as she smiled my direction.

Her cute expression and the roundness of her bottom caused my heart to melt instantly.

I never went to bars and tried to pick up dates but this was a different moment. I found some arousal-fueled courage. “Mind if I lay out my towel here?”
