The Stories We Tell Ourselves

Life is not a game of absolutes. It’s not black or white. It’s a variety of grays. It’s a mixed bag of people and experiences. I was telling my mom a story about how introverted and quiet I was…

New Blooms But No Daffodils

GARDENING

They have not flowered yet

Here are an Osteospernum in a pot where I have shelved some plants. They are the same as the plant my friend helped me dig out in February. These are pinkish white and will stay in a pot. I do not want rampant plants in flower beds. The work is too much.

To the right is mint, I like to have herbs near the back door. To the right of the shelves you can see my clematis and honeysuckle which are climbing the fence. They are flourishing.

This is the Jasmine I planted to grow up the arch across my footpath. It is growing very well and has buds, as you can see. I took the photo before tidying up! Sorry for the pots in which plants were brought home. There is also a Periwinkle growing there which will be trained on to the arch as well.

I am uncertain what this indigo beauty is. I am thrilled to see such a gorgeous flower here. It is surrounded by lawn chamomile. The Cosmos has finished after blooming far too early. This raised bed is one of my favorites. It has mainly shades of purples and white flowers.

My daffodils are all around the garden, but so far none have flowered. There is still time, but generally daffodils herald spring, after the snowdrops have bloomed.

My silver birch has some new leaves. This photo has a Bluetit in the branches. Can you see it? It was lovely to sit by it yesterday and drink coffee with friends. The greengage tree has blossom. I will include photos in my next instalment.

Spring is the season of discovery in gardens. Some plants self seed or their seed is deposited by birds. I still have plants to plant, but have been waylaid by chest infections.
